Where I'm From Poem

I am from enchanted lands

From watermelon skies and desert lands

From the ultimate question: Red or Green?

I am from late nights

From strawberry flavored margaritas and cinnamon whisky

From shot after shot to “I’m never drinking again” the next day

I am from “come down dinner is ready’, the smell of hatch roasted green chili chicken enchiladas aroma in the air to “your dinner will be in the fridge”.

I am from home cooked meals, coming home to fresh out of the oven baked brownies, and chicken taquitos.

I am from grandmas homemade tortillas. Made from scratch and love.

From the taste of red chili and bean dinners, family conversations, and the exchange of laughs and smiles.

I am from everything that has made me, all the things that make up who I am today.
